چکیده

Percutaneous Mitral Commissurotomy Rheumatic mitral stenosis continues to be endemic in developing countries, where mitral stenosis is the most frequent valve disease.1 Although the prevalence of rheumatic fever has greatly decreased in Western countries, it continues to represent an important clinical entity because of outmigration from developing countries. The figure given by the registry Euro Heart Survey, run in 2001, shows that mitral stenosis accounts for 12% of the single native valve disease.2 K. Inoue and colleagues3 were the first to perform percutaneous mitral commissurotomy (PMC) in 1982.3 The good results obtained by the technique have led to its increasing worldwide use.

the most common rheumatic valvular lesion encountered in pregnant patients is mitral stenosis. the clinical presentation of mitral stenosis in pregnancy is further complicated by the physiological increases in cardiac output and blood volume occurring during pregnancy that make the pregnant patient with this valvular disease more susceptible to decompensation. We report a case of a 35-year-old ...

Percutaneous treatment of valvular heart disease: catheter-based aortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair therapies.

Until recently, percutaneous catheter therapy for valvular heart disease was limited to catheter balloon valvuloplasty for aortic, mitral, or pulmonic stenosis. A number of new approaches to percutaneous valve therapy are now developing rapidly, including methods for catheter-based valve replacement and repair. Stent-mounted valve prostheses have been successfully implanted in the pulmonic and ...
